The John W. Scott Health Sciences Library is located at the northeast corner of the Walter C. Mackenzie Health Sciences Centre on Level 2. On the University of Alberta campus map the Library is in the building marked 132, west of 112 Street and south of 87 Avenue.
Access to the Library is from the east door of the Centre on 112th Street (take the escalator to Level 2), or through the Alberta Heritage Medical Foundation Building on 87 Avenue (building 107 on the map). Parking is available at meters outside the east door of the Centre.
The Library houses and provides access to a comprehensive collection of materials to support the teaching and research activities of the Faculties of Medicine and Dentistry, Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Nursing, and Rehabilitation Medicine.
Our mission is to provide a rich health sciences information resource to serve scholarly and patient care needs within and beyond northern Alberta. This resource is not limited to physical collections but embraces educational and consultation services and access to the world's literature relevant to health care and the biomedical sciences.
Journals are located on Level 1 (lower floor) of the Library and are shelved alphabetically by the title of the journal. Books are located on Level 1A (middle floor) and are shelved by call number. Reference books and Reserve books are located on Level 2 (upper or entry floor).
The Rawlinson rare book collection is housed in the Phyllis Russell Rare Book Room on Level 1. For access, ask at the Service Desk on Level 2.
