Past Augustana Information Literacy Workshops

The Annual Augustana Information Literacy Workshop was developed as a mechanism to learn from high profile librarians who have demonstrated deep engagement in various aspects of Information Literacy. The workshop attracts 75-100 attendees each fall to Augustana from across North America. The workshop themes and presenters, to date, are:

  • 2011:Building the Information Literate University: From Concept to Strategic Change with Sheila Webber, Senior Lecturer in the Information School, Sheffield University, UK and Director of the iSchool's Centre for Information Literacy Research, and Bill Johnston, Honorary Research Fellow, formerly Senior Lecturer and Assistant Director, at the Centre for Academic Practice and Learning Enhancement at the University of Strathclyde, Scotland.
  • 2010: Integrative Programmatic Assessment for Information Literacy with Debra Gilchrist, Dean of Libraries and Institutional Effectiveness, Pierce College, Lisa Janicke Hinchliffe, President, Association of College and Research Libraries, Coordinator for Information Literacy Services and Instruction, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and Megan Oakleaf, Assistant Professor iSchool, Syracuse University.
  • 2009: New Foundations: Building an Inquiry-based Information Literacy Agenda with Ross Todd, Associate Professor, Rutgers University School of Communication, Information & Library Studies.
  • 2008: Considering Assessment: Evaluating Student Learning and Informing Evidence-Based Decisions Using Rubrics and Performance Measures with Megan Oakleaf, Assistant Professor, School of Information Studies, Syracuse University, New York.
  • 2007: Student Engagement: Connecting with Learners through Interest,  Understanding, and Support with Lisa Janicke Hinchliff, Head, Undergraduate Library, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
  • 2006: Supporting Undergraduate Research Experiences with Elizabeth Dupuis, Associate University Librarian for Educational Initiatives and Director of the Doe/Moffitt Libraries, University of California, Berkeley.
