Discover visual materials in our collection by seaching the NEOS Libraries' Catalogue. To limit to Videos, DVDs or Films, select the Videos/Visuals Materials option from the Format limit.

  • If you are starting from the U of A Library Home page, choose 'other search options' before doing your search, to give you the option to limit by format
  • It is often useful when searching for visual materials to also limit by Library or by year (or range of years)
  • The borrowing of some videos is restricted to University of Alberta staff and students due to copyright limitations. Videos with such restrictions are labelled accordingly and a note will appear in the catalogue record for the video.

There is a large collection of documentaries and theatrical legal films in the Law Library Reserve Room.

Streaming Video

  • Films on Demand Contains instructional and educational streaming videos from sources such as Films for the Humanities & Sciences and Cambridge Educational in addition to a number of news outlets such as PBS, CNBC, and National Geographic.
    Collection is licensed for members of the University of Alberta for classroom teaching, research, presentations, and educational non-commercial multimedia projects for use in educational institutions

  • NFB.ca, the National Film Board of Canada's streaming video archive, is available for personal use subject to the notices on their site. Additionally, this archive is licensed for members of the University of Alberta for public exhibition, i.e. "the free exhibition of the Websites, including any and all parts of its Content, within the premises of the Institution, in streaming mode, excluding any downloading or reproduction of the Content".
  • The CBC has a digital archives.
