Bruce Peel Special Collections - Other Collections major holdings

  • Peel's Prairie Provinces - as of May 2009, Peel contains over 7,200 digitized titles and over 10,000 newspaper issues. These materials are extremely varied - rich in both text and images, providing an extraordinarily diverse picture of the Prairie experience.
  • University of Alberta Archives - the Archives is the official repository for the permanently valuable records of the University of Alberta and its affiliated institutions. Our holdings consist of material that is of continuing adminstrative, legal, or historical value.
  • University of Alberta Museum and Collections - reaching back to prehistoric times and spanning the globe, our 35 collections represent an exceptional range of disciplines.
  • University of Alberta Law Special Collections - consists of Canadian titles published before 1867, and English and American titles published before 1800. Highlights of this collection include rare and early editions of English cases and statutes, early editions of important legal dictionaries and treatises, and magnificent reproductions of works such as the Domesday Book and the Codex of Iceland.
  • The Rawlinson Rare Book Collection (History of Medicine) - consists of approximately 1500 volumes. The books may be consulted in the rare books room; however, they do not circulate due to their age, fragility, or rarity.
  • William C. Wonders Map Collection - the emphasis of the collection is North American, however it also contains maps for all parts of the world and has strengths in the following areas: Western Canada, Northern Canada, Poland, Germany, France, and archival collections for Ukraine, British Isles, and Eastern Europe.
  • Canadian Circumpolar Library - The boundaries of the collection are geographic with an emphasis on the North American arctic and sub-arctic regions.
