Archives Building Accessibility

  • Designated accessible parking: One designated parking space directly in front of the RCRF building entrance
  • Access to building:entrance is at ground height, and the entrance doors have push pads
  • Accessible washrooms:Two gender neutral, accessible washrooms in the corridor to the left of the entrance

Archives Study + Use

  • Adjustable height work tables: Four in Reading Room - all with electrical outlets.
  • Oversized, wall-mounted monitors linked to the public workstations: 90" monitor accessible with wireless connectivity and CCID login (Kramer VIA Connect system) in Dr. Ron Madge Reading Room.
  • Low height book scanner: located in the Reading Room.
  • Low height storage lockers: to the right of the entrance.

Augustana Library

Augustana Building Accessibility

  • Augustana Library is located in the Forum at Augustana Campus.
  • Designated accessible parking: There are four designated wheelchair parking spots in Parking Lot P3/4 near the entrance to the Faith and Life Centre. Indoor access to the library from accessible parking is through the Faith and Life Centre and the Forum.
  • Ramp access to building/library: At the door entrance to Faith and Life Centre are automatic push buttons that users need to press. In addition to the Faith and Life Centre entrance, there is wheelchair access from outside on the south side of the Forum building. The double set of doors have an automatic push plate that users need to press. There is a wheelchair ramp leading from the doors to near the library entrance. The first part of the ramp has large mats as a non-slip surface.
  • Elevators: Located at the rear of the library. It is wheelchair accessible. The elevator provides access to the lower level (the main stacks and study areas) and the second floor (Learning Commons and classroom area.)
  • Accessible washrooms:There are women's and men's washrooms on the main level of the library (behind the glass wall to the right when entering the library), and on the lower level. The washrooms are wheelchair accessible with privacy entrance (no physical door). They all have push button soap dispensors and automatic hand dryers. The main floor washroom additionally has a paper hand towel dispensor.
  • Low height water fountains:Two water fountains at wheelchair height beside washrooms on main floor. There are push buttons to operate. Each fountain has an integrated water dispenser for water bottles.
  • Areas inaccessible by wheelchair:After hours access to the 24/7 study space is through a door that is difficult to open, it does not open automatically.

Augustana Study + Library Use

  • Adjustable height work tables:Five electric adjustable height workstations on the main level.
  • Oversized, wall-mounted monitors: One 55 inch screen in Room E on the main level of the library in the far right corner.

Bibliotheque Saint-Jean (BSJ)

BSJ Building Accessibility

  • Bibliothèque Saint-Jean is located in McMahon pavilion, Campus Saint-Jean.
  • Designated accessible parking: Two spots in paid parking lot. Closest is next to parking ticket dispenser, about 10m from main building entrance. Drop-off area at main entrance is spacious and level.
  • Elevator and ramp access to library: Building elevator is directly across from McMahon pavillion main doors. Take elevator to lower level and exit to the left. Proceed down hallway. Turn left, turn right then proceed down the ramp which is located to your right.
  • Accessible washrooms: Closest accessible washrooms are in the building, outside of the Library. Exit library go up the ramp and turn right. Accessible stall in men's and women's - manual door.
  • Low height water fountains:Located at top of ramp near washrooms, in the building outside of the library.

BSJ Study + Library Use

  • Adjustable height work tables: Two located in the back of the library in the quiet study area.
  • Adjustable height computer workstations: One height adjustable workstation, located towards the back of the library just past the puppets (marionnettes) and to the left in the quiet study area.
  • Oversized, wall-mounted monitors linked to public workstations: Two 40+" TV screens (Salle C, F)

Rutherford South Building Accessibility

  • Ramp access to building/library: Entrance to Rutherford South building via ramp from Galleria.
  • Elevators: to right at rear of lobby area. Special wheelchair access only. Follow signage. Take elevator to basement level, turn right, and ring doorbell for access.

  • Ramp access to building: Located at South entrance to building. Additional ramp access from Level 1 of the Central Academic Building (CAB)
  • Designated accessibility lift: Located inside South entrance, for access to Level 1 and basement only.
  • Elevators: Located on the West side of the building, to the left of the main entrance. Second elevator in the East stairwell. Both elevators provide access from basement through to Level 5.

  • Oversized, wall-mounted monitor: one located in bookable study room B-14A, on the basement Level, connected to the public workstation.

  • Ramp access to building: From HUB Mall - take elevator at entrance 9002 to ground level. Rutherford Library east entrance is directly across the path.
  • Rutherford accessibility parking: One parking space at Rutherford's east entrance for visitors who have a disabilities parking placard. Max time limit 1 hr.
  • Elevators: immediately to the left as you enter the Library. Access to Levels 1 through 5.
  • Accessible washroom: To the right as you exit the elevator on Levels 1 through 5. All have automatic doors with push plate control, and accessible stalls.
  • Low height water fountains: on the wall behind the printing press exhibit in the Galleria area between Rutherford North and Rutherford South
  • Areas inaccessible by wheelchair: Some areas of the book stacks in the Music section on Level 4 have narrow aisles. Request material from service desk

  • Ramp access to building: Entrance via ramp from Galleria
  • Elevators: at rear, and to the right. Follow signage. Access to Level 2

Rutherford North Study + Library Use

  • Adjustable height service desk: All three service desk stations inside library entrance
  • Adjustable height work tables: One table with computer to the right as you enter the library on Level 1. There are 4 height adjustable tables on the 2nd floor by the east windows. Two tables on the 3rd floor East side (they are accessible from the central corridor, both are powered).
  • Adjustable height study carrels: Two in the group of study carrels adjacent to the Rutherford service desk on Level 1
  • Adjustable height checkout kiosk: Located in the Holds/Course Material room on the main floor.

  • Accessible entry to the library: The Library is located in Edmonton Clinical Health Academy (ECHA.) ECHA has accessible entrances at the Northeast, Northwest and Southeast.
  • Elevators: Are to the left of the main entrance and can be found on the basement and main level in the Northeast corner of the Library.
  • Accessible washrooms: Accessible and family friendly washrooms on each floor, near the elevator; in the Northeast corner of the library.
  • Low height water bottle dispenser: On each level in the Northeast corner of the Library.

Sperber Study + Library Use

  • Adjustable height service desk: right inside the Library entrance.
  • Adjustable height work tables: Ten height adjustable standing desks in the silent study area of the basement level.
