How to Request Library Communication Support

We are here to help share the Library’s story and promote its services, resources, and initiatives. To streamline communications support, all requests should now be submitted through our Library Communications Request Form. This form serves as the single point of contact for communication support.

How We Can Help

The Library provides a range of communication support through three key teams:

  • Library Communications Content Development & Engagement Team – Focuses on Library communications channel content development and engagement.
  • Library Strategic Communication Committee – Sets strategic direction, prioritizes efforts, and oversees system-wide communication and campaigns.
  • Web Team – Manages UAL’s web-based communications.

Together, these teams collaborate to focus on high-impact initiatives that enhance the Library’s visibility and outreach through the following services:

  • Content creation and promotion – Working with subject matter experts to develop content for social media, the Library News Blog, and outreach materials. See our current Instagram and News Blog Schedule.
  • Marketing support – Providing guidance on available platforms and coordinating with Marketing and Communications Partner if needed to share library-related news through e-newsletters and UAlberta communication channels.
  • Social media engagement – Managing and growing the Library’s presence to enhance visibility and audience engagement.
  • Visual asset creation – Designing promotional materials for Library-specific events and initiatives. We also advise on visual assets designed by library staff. See Creation of Visual Assets guidelines.
  • Strategic communications guidance – Advising on messaging, digital strategy, and engagement with University-wide communication channels.

How Requests Are Handled

Requests will be reviewed and assigned to the appropriate teams. Social media posts, Library News blog posts, and visual asset creation will be managed by the Content Development and Engagement Team. L&M Bulletin additions will be handled by Rehana Bennett, supported by Kim Kemmer. Requests requiring broader coordination or strategic consideration will be followed up by the Strategic Communication Committee to determine the best course of action.

Due to limited resources, not all requests can be accommodated. Prioritization will be based on strategic alignment, impact, and available resources, with the Strategic Communication Committee ensuring communication efforts remain focused and aligned with UAL and the University’s goals and priorities.

Minor website changes and content edits should continue to be submitted through the Library Helpdesk as they are currently. If a request has broader communication relevance, it will be escalated to the Strategic Communication Committee for further discussion.
