Audio and Video Curation

Aviary is an audiovisual digital curation platform that allows for controlled access to streaming video and audio files and their associated transcripts and indexes. Examples of existing collection materials in Aviary include oral histories, interviews, event recordings, musical performances, radio and television broadcasts and open educational resources.

Featured Collections

  • The Convocation Hall Digital Archive: consists of over 2000 recordings documenting musical performances at the University of Alberta from 1967 to present such as student and faculty recitals, performances by visiting artists, lecture-recitals, and radio programs
  • Local Culture and Diversity on the Prairies: The aim of the Local Culture and Diversity on the Prairies project was to contribute to Canadians' understanding of diversity and the growth of local community life in Canada. The project created a large repository of recorded interviews which documented everyday life, ethnic identity and regional variation among people of Ukrainian, French, German, and English heritage on the prairies up to 1939
  • University of Alberta Events: contains recordings from events held at or affiliated with the University of Alberta.
